Hola, I am reading Wake Up by Jack Kerouac. I recently read the Original Scroll of On The Road which was amazing--I actually wish I had not read the published version first.
Wake Up is mostly Kerouac summarizing other writings or teaching of the Buddha (a formal comparison with Herman Hesse's Siddhartha would be fantastic). There is some of the spontaneous beat prose that attracts me to much of Kerouac's writing, but it is often kind of preachy or something in its tone--I actually fell asleep last night reading it, which I do not think has ever happened to me when reading any of the beats.
I have not really gotten into it as much as I thought that I would.
Has anyone else read Wake Up? What did you think? Thanks, David S
